There’s a lot of chatter out there about whether Albert Einstein (father of the Theory of Relativity
and widely known as the smartest man who ever lived) used marijuana. Our goal at Greenito is to give you the truth as best we know it and so while it would be great to be able to point to actual instances of Albert Einstein smoking pot (or consuming cannabis in other ways), the historical record just doesn’t show much in the way of a “smoking” gun
to support this theory.
What we do know, however, is that Einstein said about hemp (the multi-use cousin of the cannabis plant)
“The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.”
We also know that he was a libertarian
in his views that the government should remain out of a personal decisions related to smoking tobacco or drinking alcohol, and that he enjoyed smoking a pipe, stating that
“Pipe smoking contributes to a somewhat calm and objective judgement of human affairs.”
Einstein also said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” And that’s really something. But added up, his support of the rights of the individual, smoking of tobacco and growing of hemp
would point to his willingness to smoke marijuana but we’ve got nothing that proves it. Certainly no photo of him vaping a nice heady sativa. Would it help if we did? Or would it all be relative?
