How expensive is weed in Colorado versus Oregon versus Washington? How much is a gram or an ounce? Here’s a little graphic to help break it down:

Colorado:

Taxes:  Recreational marijuana is subject to a 10% state marijuana fee, 2.9% sales tax, 15% excise, plus any local sales taxes.

 

Washington:

 Taxes: Recreational marijuana is subject to a 37% excise tax. Yup you read that right!

Taxes: Marijuana will not be taxed until January 4, 2016, and at that time users can expect to see a base state tax of 17%, with cities and counties adding up to 3% in additional taxes.

Marijuana prices will differ from location to location and from dispensary to dispensary, and prices will be affected according to the different taxes in place in the area you’re buying. As states adjust to the new source of revenue, they’re adjusting the taxes accordingly. You’ll face different state, local, and retail taxes.
